User Assignment of YubiKeys

Appterix offers the possibility to assign users to a YubiKey automatically or manually.

Configure automatic YubiKey assignment

By default, automatic YubiKey assignment is enabled, so new or unassigned YubiKeys are automatically assigned to users as soon as they are detected. You can configure automatic YubiKey assignment according to your organization's security requirements or policies.

How to configure automatic YubiKey assignment

– In the Appterix Management UI, navigate to Settings > YubiKey Management.

- Under Automatic assignment of YubiKeys Choose one of the following options:

- - Only automatically assign new or unassigned YubiKeysThis option allows the system to automatically assign a new or unassigned YubiKey to a user so that they can use it immediately.

- - Automatically assign YubiKeys and add the user to the list of existing ownersThis option assigns YubiKeys to new users and simultaneously adds them as current owners, along with previous users.

- - Automatically assign YubiKeys, replace existing owners, and add the user as the new ownerThis option replaces the current users of a YubiKey with a new one (e.g., if the YubiKey needs to be completely assigned to another person).

– Click Save.

Manual assignment of YubiKeys

If the Automatic assignment of YubiKeys under Settings If it is deactivated, you can manually assign the YubiKeys to a user. 

Here's how to assign a YubiKey to a user

– In the Appterix Management UI, navigate to YubiKey Management > Inventory.

– Select the YubiKey you want to assign.

– Click on the tab owner.

– Select the user, and then click on Save.
